History

Bordered by the waters of the Pacific Ocean, Tumaco, also known as « The Pearl of the Pacific », is located in the Southwest of the country (Nariño department) near Ecuador.

A lush vegetation made up of tropical rainforests, rivers and mangroves. The predominantly Afro-Colombian population has an ancestral cacao culture. This cacao is produced by a cooperative made up of Afro-Colombian women. They promote the wowen’s rights and the socio-economic development of their members and their families. This region has been plagued by drug trafficking and hit by armed conflict. An intense flavor cacao profile awarded with several international prizes.
