History

The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is the highest coastal mountain in the world. This holy and magical land located on the Caribbean Coast (Magdalena department) is considered as a hotspot of biodiversity made up of microclimates. This territory is the cradle of several indigenous groups. This cacao is produced by a cooperative made up of Kogui and Wiwa community members and former farmers. They support young people, foster reforestation and develop cacao tourism. They endeavour to classify old trees of criollo varieties to preserve their genetic material. The genetics of this ancient cacao and the mix with other varieties gave a complex and unique distinctive profile. This cacao was awarded as the best organoleptic profile.
