History

Located in the heart of the Llanos region, wide eastern plains, in the north of the Orinoco region and bordered by Venezuela, the department of Arauca is a mountainous land crossed by rivers. This sancturay of exuberant fauna and flora has a great tradition of cacao culture. The local varieties of the « Araucan » model confer a specific flavor on this cacao. This cacao is produced according to the good agricultural practices by a cooperative who strives to improve the productivity and the living standards of their members. This region has been affected by armed conflict and forced displacements of population. This department produces one of the best cacaos in the world, awarded with international prizes. An award-winning cacao, smooth, with a creamy texture and notes of caramel, walnuts, and fruits.
